If architecture is “frozen music”, then the facades of houses are its score. Exploring the architecture of the post-Soviet space, we are trying to understand how this centuries-old symphony could sound and look, and most importantly, what kind of conflict it speaks to the modern viewer.

ALEXEY EVSTIGNEEV was born and grew up in Shatura, Russia. In 2020 he graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (also known as VGIK), the Documentary Filmmaking Course of Viktor Lisakovich, and Alexey Geleyn. His student film The Track premiered at Dok Leipzig in 2019, the festival circle of the next documentary The Golden Buttons was launched on Visions du Reel in 2020. The Golden Buttons was long-listed for the 2020 European Film Award. Since 2022 he has been studying in the master’s program of University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (Jiri Barta’s animation workshop). Alexey took part in IDFA Talent Campus, Visions du Reel Talent Campus, Fajr IFF Talent Campus.
