MY TORMENTING ENEMY

Nké Ntum explores a broken relationship between a filmmaker and mother-to-be, and water. It follows her through different encounters with a sand miner, traditional chiefs,a therapist… Together they try to find meaning amidst transgenerational trauma and attempt to (re)connect her with the water.

Cyrielle Raingou. Is a Cameroonian filmmaker passionate about African cultural identity, its international promotion, and the economic interest it generates. She often utilizes legends, metaphors, and animal symbolism to unravel human complexity and mystery. She has just completed her first documentary feature, Le spectre de Boko Haram, which focuses on life in a war zone from the perspective of childhood. Holding master’s degrees in Law and Documentary Film Direction, Cyrielle has directed short films such as Challenge (2017), selected in various international film festivals, Neighbors, presented in the Short Film Corner section of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, Requiem Prologue (2019), premiered at the Luxor African Film Festival in 2019, The Lamb (2020), premiered at the Docudays UA festival, Parallèle (2021), Mother Just a Smile (2022), and Le spectre de Boko Haram (2023). Mother Just a Smile and Le spectre de Boko Haram had their world premieres at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2023, where Le spectre de Boko Haram won the Tiger Award.
