IDFA is the biggest documentary film festival in the world, the ideal meeting place for documentary professionals and a key launch pad for independent documentary films. Annually IDFA shows 300 documentaries in various competitive and noncompetitive sections, thus covering the rich variety of the documentary genre. Aside from the festival, IDFA consists of three industry components: the IDFA FORUM for international co-financing, Docs for Sale for finished documentaries and the Filmmaker Support department for training and funding.
As part of IDFA’s Filmmaker Support department, the IDFA Bertha Fund supports independent, critical, and artistic voices from DAC-countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Oceania with the aim of stimulating and empowering the creative documentary sector in these regions.
