BOURGOU
Rédo Porgo / 49´ / 2001 / Burkina Faso / BETACAM
''Bourgou'' is a creative documentary on the universe of initiation ceremonies in traditional Moaga society. Circumcision for initiation is a rite of passage that is obligatory for the adolescent joining the group of adults. It is a physical and civic education and for military service.
This rite is a sacramental celebration of life or "death". In initiation, the child learns to "die" so as to find his life  again. It is here that he learns to forge his own personality through assuming consciousness imposed by the laws of the community. The young boy then lives in traditional  asceticism which is a test of the man regarding physical and moral strength.

RIGHT OF MEMORY

Forgotten in the recognition of their rights and their merits. These forgotten men of history still remember and claim their dues from France and from history.

Because when one is infected with the AIDS virus, life goes on, love, the desire for a child, sexuality too.
